California-based renewable energy developer Pathway Power LLC on Wednesday said it has secured a USD-36-million (EUR 36m) strategic investment from Forest Road Renewables, part of speciality finance platform The Forest Road Company.

Driven by strong solar and wind power growth, electrical generation by renewable energy sources (i.e., also including biomass, geothermal, hydropower) accounted for almost 30 percent of total U.S. electrical generation in April and over a quarter during the first four months of 2022, according to a SUN DAY Campaign analysis of newly-released EIA data.

Nothing, it seems, can hold back the advance of renewable energy. A record amount of renewable capacity was installed in 2021, despite post-pandemic delays and rising raw material costs.
Now the International Energy Agency (IEA) expects that record to be beaten again in 2022, at least in part as nations that have relied on fossil fuels from Russia, push ahead with new renewable capacity in response to the war in Ukraine.

Recent challenges facing wind and solar likely won’t sink their longer-term progress in the United States, as industries figure out ways to keep the cost of renewable power on a downward slope, according to a new peer-reviewed analysis from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
Three Berkeley Lab researchers assessed how well the wind and solar industries have performed based on the historical prices of renewable electricity, and then used the findings to project how renewables’ levelized costs of energy would decrease through 2050.
